West Chelsea Artists Open Studios will kick-off the spring West Chelsea Arts district 2012 season May 11 - 13, 2012.

West Chelsea artists based in the heart of the West Chelsea Arts district will open their art studio's doors to the public on Friday, May 11 through Sunday, May 13th, from 12:00. - 6:00 p.m.

This is a free self-guided tour of art studios located in the West Chelsea Arts district. The West Chelsea Arts Building, 508-526 West 26th Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues is the starting point with more than 50 artists open studios. There are more than 10 buildings located in the West Chelsea Arts district with artists’ open studios.

The West Chelsea Artists Open Studios was created by artists for artists to raise awareness of the multitude of studios scattered among the galleries of Chelsea. The West Chelsea Artists open studios event allows local artists the opportunity to open their studio doors to show their artwork; and to provide the public with the opportunity to interact with the artists, view their work and purchase artwork.

The West Chelsea Arts district is considered one of the art centers of the world, Art lovers, collectors, artists and public are given the opportunity to access a multitude of artists, styles, and mediums and see first hand the creative spaces generally only open by appointment.

Visitors can preview participating artists via the web www.westchelseaartists.com to create a self-guided art tour. This open format encourages dialogue between artists and enthusiasts allowing visitors to gain first hand knowledge about the creative process.

Collectors have the ability to purchase works directly from the artists’ studio inventory, giving them the opportunity to be the first to discover new talent before it makes its way to the gallery walls.

Your challenge as a participating artist is to choose your subject matter and create a final work that predominately uses one the sets of primary colors noted above in 2D (painting, photography, graphic or assemblage).

You have the option to use photo editing software to enhance the image as you deem necessary. They say a face can tell a thousand words, so go ahead and show us your story!

JP to me 2010 from emeralds to jewels is a themed exhibit showcasing the work of 40 local artists and writers.

The exhibit will be shown in the Parker Room at the Footlight Club, 7A Eliot Street, Jamaica Plain from January 29 – February 13, 2010.

Each participant has been assigned one of five emeralds:
Franklin Park, Arnold Arboretum, Forest Hills (including the
cemetery), Southwest Corridor, Jamaica Pond

They will express themselves through one original 2-D or 3-D
piece or writing. The theme is to discover a “jewel” within your district. A
jewel can be anything: a place, a feeling, a happening, etc.

As the organizer, I am excited to present the second annual showing of JP to me!

(ahts): The Boston Arts Festival features the best of the Boston Arts Scene- both visual and performance. Started in 2003 as a single afternoon event, the festival has expanded into a 3-day celebration incorporating a diverse performing arts program and a specially built artists’ village.

Based in the idyllic Christopher Columbus Park on Boston’s waterfront, the festivities glisten in perfect symmetry with the parks surroundings perfect for hosting also family friendly activities.

The festival features over 60 juried artists from Boston and a performance program on 2 stages showcasing Boston’s best performing arts groups and performers.

the SoWa Art Walk is held every spring in the SoWa (South of Washington Street) neighborhood in boston’s south end. a former mill building district where pianos, canned goods, shoes and other merchandise were made in the 19th century, the district has been home to artists’ studios carved out of the old factories for the last fifty years. today, the artists have been joined by art galleries, creative businesses, cutting edge restaurants and the recent boom in residential loft buildings.

A public art exhibit entitled "JP to Me…..eleven artists, eleven takes" displaying the richness of Jamaica Plain through the work of eleven local artists, will be hosted at the historic
Footlight Club. With subjects spanning architecture, street scenes, nature, and abstract shapes, the artists' visions are as diverse as the neighborhood they derive from.

If home is where the heart is, there's no place like this exhibit to witness the variety of Jamaica Plain.

The contributing artists are Ted Cormier, Robert Festa, Edward Gault, Erik Gehring, Amy Hitchcock, Kristin Mallery, Matt McKee, Kate Moss, Bill Shamlian, Keith Supko, and Lucie Wicker.

The exhibit can be seen on the Friday and Saturday evenings of January 30 and 31, February 6 and 7, and February 13 and 14, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Parker Room of the Footlight Club, located at 7 Eliot Street. A reception will be held on February 7 from 6 to 8 pm.

the aim of Art Uncorked 2007 is to rally our community behind one common cause: supporting vital community groups and organizations in massachusetts. in years past, the IIDA NE’s art auction has been extremely successful in raising funds for local charities, and it is in this vein that Art Uncorked continues. this year’s beneficiary even hits close to home: The massachusetts interior design coalition (MIDC).

patrons of Art Uncorked 2007 will have the opportunity to taste and learn about a variety of wines and complementary foods, all of which will be matched with artwork and crafts donated to the IIDA NE by the design community. In the spirit of the IIDA NE art auction, all artwork—paintings, stained glass, jewelry, photography, etc—will be auctioned off to benefit the MIDC.
